I continue with installation, it copies files and whatnot and then it reboots (which it is supposed to do). However, the installation hangs on the Windows Vista loading bar. It just stays there forever. No error message, nothing. I've tried it twice now and both times the exact same thing happened.

The blue screen appears as the installation begins and the message 'Setup is loading files' appears. It goes through this fine but when it gets to the 'Setup is starting windows' Stage it just hangs!!! Does anyone know of a way around this? I really cant figure out what is going on. I have been stuck for ages!

Seems like it hangs while loading the USB modules. There are some additional errors preceeding the one shown above: "/etc/resolv.conf: No such file or directory" Shouldn't hurt while installation. After you've made an installation with 2.4, can you install the 2.6 package and check if you see similar problems? Do you mean to upgrade the kernel to 2.6 or to try to reinstall Sarge using the linux26 option? I still need to figure out how to complete the installation with 2.4. It has a PCMCIA wireless LAN card

The installation hangs after al the packages have been installed and a message box pops up with text "Performing post install configuration. but when I try to boot, I only get the Loading line, the "dots", and then "LI" (which i am assuming is the first to characters of LILO) at which point I am hung up again.

It also didn't like not loading any 7899 driver. Just for kicks I did the same with the dual imbedded NICs. It's worked on all 4 of our 1550s with NW5 and 5.1 I copied all the updated driver files from dell, to the C:\NWUPDATE directory however the server still hangs at the NW5.0 splash screen.

I got a couple pop-ups windows telling me that some package can't be installed because of bad checksums, of course you tried without and the kernel wouldn't boot.
